A Month of Mysterious Fourth-Grade Math Challenges

October can be an exciting month in the classroom. It can also be a month when keeping students focused takes a little more creativity.

This 4th Grade October Math Spiral Review Escape Room gives students the math practice they need while letting them solve a new mystery each day.

In Midnight Mansion, students help prepare a strange old mansion for its busiest season of the year. Along the way, they unlock mysterious doors, decode mansion rules, repair spooky sound effects, reset unusual clocks, guide guests away from the swamp, and solve the confusing instructions left behind in the Midnight Mansion Manual.

The theme is spooky without being scary, making it a fun choice for October without depending on a classroom Halloween celebration.

Short Challenges That Fit Into Your Routine

The resource includes 20 regular challenges and four bonus challenges. Most take approximately 5–15 minutes, so they can fit into the school day without taking over the entire math block.

Depending on the activity, students may need to:
