The Gingerbread Man has locked your students inside the bakery! In this challenging 6th grade winter math escape room, students solve five standards-based math and logic puzzles to find their way out.
Choose the printable or digital escape room
The resource includes two ways to play. The digital escape room is automated and self-checking in Google Forms. Students do not need Google accounts or email addresses, and the form only allows students to continue after they enter the correct answer.
The low-prep black-and-white printable escape room includes the introduction, five clue pages, and a success page for an engaging, device-free activity. Give students the introduction and first clue, then provide each new clue as groups solve the previous one.
The gingerbread theme does not mention a specific winter holiday, so it works well throughout the winter season as well as before Christmas break.
6th grade math skills students will practice

- Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing multi-digit decimals (6.NS.B.3)

- Using powers of ten, rounding, prime numbers, and the relationship between the sum and product of a number’s digits

This is a challenging escape room and works best with partners or small groups of two to four. Plan for approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Use it for a winter math center, Christmas math review, enrichment, homeschool instruction, tutoring, or cooperative practice.
Students do not need to search the web. Please confirm that your school or district allows Google Forms if you plan to use the digital version.
