Description
Keep your fourth graders solving, reasoning, and talking about math all November with two connected Thanksgiving resources. This bundle combines a full-class escape room adventure with a month of shorter puzzle-style review tasks, so you can use one special activity before Thanksgiving break and keep the story going during morning work, centers, or daily review.
These are real escape-room challenges built around a storyline, interconnected clues, codes, ciphers, logic, and standards-based math—not ordinary worksheets with a seasonal label.
Two Thanksgiving Math Resources
Operation Unlock the Oven
The Thanksgiving Thwarter has locked the oven while dinner is cooking inside. Students must solve five mathematical puzzles and open every lock before time runs out.
Choose the self-checking Google Forms™ version for an easy digital setup, or use the included printable version for a more hands-on classroom experience. The complete escape room is designed for one class period.
Skills include:
- Rounding whole numbers to the nearest ten and hundred
- Dividing three-digit dividends by one-digit divisors
- Solving multi-step word problems using the four operations
- Interpreting multiplicative comparisons
- Comparing numbers shown in standard, expanded, and word form
- Solving a simple substitution-code puzzle
The Clockwork Kitchen: November Spiral Review Tasks
Students help restore a chaotic clockwork kitchen by completing 20 regular escape-room-style tasks and four bonus challenges. Each mission generally takes about 5–15 minutes, making the set flexible enough to use one puzzle a day throughout November or several at a time.
Review skills include:
- Multi-digit addition and subtraction, including subtraction across zeros
- Multiplying one-digit numbers by two- and three-digit numbers
- Multiplicative comparison and “times as many” problems
- Introductory equal-groups division
- Place value, rounding, and comparing multi-digit numbers
- Factors, multiples, and prime and composite numbers
- Equivalent fractions
- Elapsed time, area, and perimeter
- Scaled-graph and multi-step word problems
- Number patterns and rule tables
- Logic, reasoning, and problem solving
- Alphabet, Pigpen, Braille, and Atbash ciphers
A small amount of two-digit-by-two-digit multiplication appears mainly in the optional bonus challenges. If your class has not covered a skill yet, simply skip that task or solve it together.

Students do not need Google accounts to complete the Google Forms™ escape room. The Clockwork Kitchen Google Slides™ tasks are not self-checking, but they can be downloaded as a PowerPoint file if your school does not use Google.
