Description
This arcade does not trade tickets for prizes—students must earn enough tickets to get the key and escape! Your 5th graders solve six fraction puzzles, play “Whack-a-Fraction,” decode a magic word, and work through a challenging logic puzzle.
This digital escape room is automated and self-checking in Google Forms. There are no clues to hide, and students do not need Google Classroom or Google accounts. It is aligned with 5.NF.A.1.
Fraction skills students will practice
- Adding fractions with unlike denominators using visual models
- Subtracting fractions with unlike denominators using visual models
- Finding the least common denominator for two fractions
- Creating equivalent fractions with common denominators
- Adding and subtracting fractions with equivalent expressions
- Reducing fraction answers to simplest form
- Solving a substitution cipher
- Reading closely and completing a challenging fraction logic puzzle
This activity does not include mixed numbers, improper fractions, or regrouping. Students can request extra hints for the logic puzzle inside the Google Form.

Pairs or small groups are recommended, although students may work independently. Most students need approximately 45–55 minutes; some may finish in about 20 minutes. Use it for fraction practice, unit review, test preparation, enrichment, or cooperative learning.
Students do not need to search the web. Please confirm that your school or district allows Google Forms.
