Description
Students often need more decimal division practice than a single lesson provides, but another page of nearly identical problems is not always the best answer. This 5th grade math mission asks students to divide decimals accurately in order to stop a rogue agent from leaking top-secret information.
Students will practice:
- divide decimals to the hundredths by whole-number divisors
- work primarily with single-digit divisors, with a small number of larger divisors
- solve problems that terminate without repeating decimals
- use place-value reasoning and suggested division strategies
The activity includes printable color and black-and-white files as well as a self-checking digital escape room. The digital version has no clues to hide and runs through Google Forms. The printable puzzles can be used together as the full mission or separately for centers, task cards, and short review sessions.
It is a good fit once students have been introduced to decimal division and need focused, standards-aligned practice without losing engagement.
