5th Grade Coordinate Plane Digital Escape Room | First Quadrant

$5.00

Your students have a flight to catch—and coordinate-plane puzzles reveal every detail of their mystery trip! This no-prep, self-checking 5th grade digital escape room practices ordered pairs, graphing points, identifying the origin, interpreting word problems, and finding missing vertices. Two versions are included for differentiation: a 20–30 minute basic challenge and a longer version with more difficult puzzles and a logic challenge.

Description

Your students have been selected for a free flight to a mystery destination on Coordinate Plane Airways! Before they can board, they must use ordered pairs and first-quadrant graphing skills to determine their destination, gate number, and other details on their plane tickets.

This 5th grade coordinate plane escape room is delivered through Google Forms. It is low prep, fully automated, and self-checking—there are no clues to hide or answers to check before students continue. Print the included plane ticket and coordinate grid for each student, then let the digital challenge guide them through the mystery.

Coordinate plane skills students will practice

  • Identifying the origin, axes, and coordinates on a coordinate plane
  • Plotting ordered pairs in the first quadrant
  • Identifying the coordinates of given points
  • Graphing shapes and determining missing vertices from clues
  • Interpreting coordinate-plane word problems
  • Applying coordinate values in real-world and mathematical situations

The activity was designed around 5.G.A.1 and 5.G.A.2. It can also provide enrichment for advanced 4th graders or review for 6th graders.

Two versions for easy differentiation

Basic version: A quicker review that most students complete in approximately 20–30 minutes.

Challenge version: Includes a logic puzzle and more difficult versions of two other puzzles. Most students need approximately 30–50 minutes.

What is included

  • Two versions of the Google Forms escape room
  • Printable plane ticket with QR code and URL
  • Printable coordinate-plane work page
  • Quick-start guide and detailed teacher directions
  • Answer key with teacher tips
  • Success signs
  • Google Slides plane ticket and digital coordinate plane for students working remotely

Students do not need Google accounts for the regular escape room. They would need access to Google Drive to use the optional digital plane ticket and coordinate-plane tools. Please confirm that your school or district allows Google Forms.
