Description
The Candy Corn Man is causing trouble again, and your 3rd graders will need multiplication to crack the case! This Halloween digital escape room gives students an engaging way to practice multiplication within 100, with an emphasis on facts for 1, 2, 5, and 10.
The challenge is built in Google Forms, making it no prep and self-checking. Students receive immediate feedback as they solve each part of the mystery, so you do not need to hand out clues or check every response before they continue.
Multiplication skills students will practice
- Interpreting and using arrays
- Writing multiplication equations to match models and situations
- Solving multiplication equations within 100
- Solving multiplication word problems
- Finding missing factors
- Connecting multiplication, division, and equal groups
- Using multiplication facts for 1, 2, 5, and 10
The math content supports standards 3.OA.A.1 and 3.OA.A.3. Because the fact focus is intentionally accessible, this activity works especially well near the beginning of a multiplication unit, for review, or as an informal assessment.
How to use this activity
Students can complete the escape room independently, with a partner, in a small group, or as a whole class. Pairs or groups of three are often a good fit because students can discuss the models and equations without leaving anyone out. Most classes finish in about 35–45 minutes, though timing varies by group.
Students do not need accounts to participate. Your school or district must allow access to Google Forms.
