The Gingerbread Man has escaped and locked your students inside the bakery! In this challenging 5th grade winter math escape room, students work through five standards-based math and logic puzzles to find their way out.
Choose the printable or digital escape room
The resource includes two ways to play. The digital escape room is automated and self-checking in Google Forms. Students do not need Google accounts or email addresses, and there are no clues to print, sort, or hide.
The black-and-white printable escape room includes the story and puzzle pages for an engaging, device-free activity. Give students the full packet or hand out one clue at a time and check their answers as they work.
The gingerbread theme does not mention a specific winter holiday, so it works well throughout the winter season as well as before Christmas break.
5th grade math skills students will practice
- Dividing three-digit dividends by one- and two-digit divisors with whole-number quotients

This is one of the more challenging escape rooms and is best completed with partners or small groups. Plan for approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Use it for a winter math center, Christmas math review, enrichment, homeschool instruction, tutoring, or cooperative practice.
Students do not need to search the web. Please confirm that your school or district allows Google Forms if you plan to use the digital version.
