The Gingerbread Man has escaped and locked your students inside the bakery! Your 5th graders must solve five challenging math and logic puzzles to find their way out.
This winter digital escape room is automated and self-checking in Google Forms. There are no clues to sort or hide, and students do not need Google accounts. The gingerbread theme does not mention a specific winter holiday.
5th grade math skills students will practice
- Dividing a three-digit dividend by a two-digit divisor with a whole-number quotient
- Solving multi-step word problems
- Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals
- Identifying prime numbers
- Recognizing that a digit is 10 times the value of the same digit one place to its right
- Multiplying and dividing by powers of 10 and using whole-number exponents

This is one of the more challenging escape rooms, so partners or small groups are a good choice. Most students finish in under 45 minutes, but allowing up to 60 minutes is safest. Use it before winter break, for enrichment, homeschool instruction, tutoring, or cooperative review.
