Description
Decimal place value is foundational, but students need more than one format of practice to show that they truly understand it. This spy-themed 5th grade mission asks students to stop a cyber-virus by reading, comparing, rounding, and reasoning about decimals across a series of puzzles.
Students will practice:
- read and write decimals to the thousandths
- compare decimal values, including numbers written in expanded form
- round decimals to a requested place
- identify the value of a digit
- use whole-number exponents to express powers of 10
The escape room includes printable color and black-and-white files plus a self-checking digital version. The digital activity is automated through Google Forms and has no clues to hide. Printable puzzles can be used as the full mission or separated for centers, task cards, or exit-ticket review.
It works well at the beginning of a decimal unit, after instruction, or as a spiral review before students begin decimal operations.
