Description
This 7th grade integer operations escape room gives students practice with adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing positive and negative numbers. Students work through a haunted-house mystery as they solve word problems, find the distance between signed values, open a safe, and follow the order of operations.
The storyline does not mention Halloween, so you can use the activity during October or at any point in the year. Several puzzles are intentionally challenging and work well for partner or small-group collaboration.
No-prep and self-checking
The digital escape room runs in Google Forms™ and checks answers automatically. Students do not need Google accounts. They can participate with any internet-connected tablet, computer, or phone.
An optional copy link is included for schools that require Google Forms™ to originate within their own system. Please confirm that your district allows Google Forms™. Three printable support pages help students organize their work, although the main activity is designed for online use.

How long does it take?
Most students finish in 30–45 minutes. Allow up to 60 minutes when students need more processing time. Students who are not signed into Google can record answers on paper and re-enter them later.

Do students need to search the web?
